    Some of those teachers laid off were in D.C.--the kids here were protesting yesterday at Michelle Rhee's office because many of the school employees laid off were well-liked and the whole process appeared to be arbitrary and opaque.

    As an aside, I'm really missing your input (and the input of several others) over at Racism Review. I'm guessing that you (and many others, myself included) grew tired of the 'Ellen and Mom Show' and their endless string of random personal anecdotes.
